THE WELSH SECTION B PONY
Rules for Showing
1: Welsh Mountain Ponies should be shown in as natural a state as possible.
2:  Very thick, long manes may be discretely thinned, one long thin plait is usually put at the top of the mane behind the ear, the reason being to show off the line of the throat.
3:  The long hairs under the jaw and those protruding from the ear may be trimmed off - leaving as natural a line as possible, the whiskers around the muzzle may be shortened.
4:  The tail should look natural and should not be “banged” (leveled off square).

In-hand Tack
Youngstock: May be shown in a white webbing or rope show halter, leather head collar or show bridle.
Mares & Geldings:  Four years old or over may be shown in a white webbing or rope show halter, leather head collar, show bridle or riding bridle.
Colts & Stallions Two years old or over, should be suitably bitted. The use of stallion Show Tack is optional.
Whips:  No riding whips or canes shall exceed 75cms (30 inches).

Ridden Tack
Saddle: Close fitting and comfortable. The use of a plain coloured numnah is optional.
Bridle: A snaffle or double bridle or pelham. Cavesson noseband, plain brow band, not brass as with in-hand bridles.
Other Tack:  No extra tack to be worn in flat classes. Martingales and brushing boots are permissible in WHP classes. Style of boots optional.
Whips:  No riding whips or canes shall exceed 75cms (30 inches).
